SPEAK-EZ-2
| The SPEAK EZ-2 Provides
the User Several Voice Interface Options Built In. Answer a question about
the application. That is it! No Complex menu is used and you don't need to learn
a foreign language. Its EZ to set for your particular application and
once set there is no fear that parameters might get "lost" due to power
glitches. You just set the switch for the application and connect to the correct
jack. Your voice channel is ready to use. That Voice Channel can be used for
FAX communications as well. Data and Telephone circuitry are powered from
their own isolated supplies, eliminating ground loops between your telephone
system and the data terminals.
We Did Not Forget Your Data Needs Either. The
data channel provides both synchronous and asynchronous operation. Speeds from
38.4K down to 9.6K are provided for great flexibility. we know that data
interfaces can change, so we provide both V.35 and RS-232 interfaces and
connectors.
Highly Integrated State of the Art LSI Technology
Is Used. These devices are custom programmed by BAT. We are in
control of these parts, not some custom LSI parts house. BAT Electronics
has spent years developing the circuitry algorithyms which allow us to produce
our low cost products. Our designs result in lower parts counts, which yield
improved reliability, reduced size and lowered power requirements. These factors
lower the cost.
Think of the SPEAK EZ-2 as a Rate Adapting CSU/DSU
With a Low Cost Voice Channel. In many cases your terminal equipment can not
use the full 56K speed, yet today these circuits can actually cost less than
analog circuits. For slightly more money than our competitors Rate Adapting
CSU/DSU you get the Voice Channel. And this channel can be used for
fax. |
This application the two locations are
linked by a 56K circuit using the SPEAK EZ-2. The muxes may have been
removed from and old analog circuit but they can not use the full 56K speed of
the digital circuit. The SPEAK EZ-2 will rate adapt to the mux speed and
offer a voice circuit between the two facilities for slightly more money than
just a plain rate adapting CSU/DSU. The interface to connect to the PBX is
included in the SPEAK EZ-2.
This system illustrate how two remote LANs
can be connected via a 56K link using the SPEAK EZ-2. The user now has
the benefit of a voice channel that can link the two facilities. Such an
application may be found linking a remote sales office using PCs for order entry
connected on a LAN communicating with a home office. The necessary telephone
interface circuitry is included in the SPEAK EZ-2. No special connection
options need be purchased. The SPEAK EZ-2 has both V.35 and RS-232
interfaces and connectors, to support a greater variety of bridges.
This application shows how a PC used in a
point of sale system can be linked by the SPEAK EZ-2 from the retail
center to the home office. The SPEAK EZ-2 can handle asynchronous data,
so there is additional hardware cost savings. The SPEAK EZ-2 provides the
asynchronous to synchronous conversion and rate adaption automatically. The user
can run the PC at either 19.2K or 38.4K as well. Again all of the necessary
telephone interfaces are provided. In fact the central and remote SPEAK
EZ-2 units are the same. Only their programming dip switches set
differently.
This system illustrates how a remote
office using a CRT cluster controller can be linked to headquarters using the
SPEAK EZ-2. The controllers can not use the full 56K bandwidth. The SPEAK
EZ-2 provides the rate of adaption. The extra bandwidth is used to provide a
voice channel between the two locations. The incremental cost over our
competitors' rate savings pay for the cost of the SPEAK EZ-2. All of the
telephone interfaces are included and are easily set by a rear panel dip switch.
The SPEAK EZ-2 includes network level diagnostics to help you install and
maintain the link.

VRT-1
The VRT-1 is a High Performance,
Variable Speed CSU/DSU that allows users to connect to the Digital Network
without obsoleting existing equipment. The VRT-1 performs Bell compatible
encoding and decoding, system timing, the proper interface and complete
diagnostics in a small package.
Using LSI Technology, the VRT-1
provides interface buffering to convert your terminal speed to 56K line
signaling. This means that you can install your high speed digital lines today
at 56K without having to up grade your terminal equipment. The VRT-1 provides
appropriate interface and conversions. The process is completely transparent to
your system. As an added benefit, you can also operate asychronous devices. The
necessary conversion circuitry is provided by the VRT-1. LSI Technology greatly
reduces the size of the enclosure and power consumption. Fewer parts and lower
power means greater reliability.
Adaptive Distance Compensation
Circuitry analyses your link and compensates for distortions. This assures
that the VRT-1 is tuned to the optimum performance for your particular
installation, extracting the best possible results from your digital circuit.
With this advanced circuitry you get better performance under marginal
conditions. This means you can take full advantage of the through put
capabilities of your digital circuit. Line loss capabilities of the VRT-1 far
surpass telephone company requirements.
Interface Flexibility is assured.
The VRT-1 provides speeds from 56K down to 1.2K. Both V.35 and RS-232
connectors are provided as well as the interface circuitry.
Diagnostics That Work For You and
with you to provide the tools needed to manage your circuits. All the
appropriate telco loopbacks are provided. Full remote capabilities are also
provided. The BAT VRT-1 can be used to assist you to trouble shoot every part of
your link.
